2012 is off to a roar­ing start at the stu­dio and we would like to take a minute to let you all know what has been going on.

After a rau­cous New Year’s Eve cel­e­bra­tion we wel­comed back one of our best inter­na­tional clients — pro­ducer and song­writer Arn­thor Bir­gis­son (Brit­ney Spears, Car­los San­tana, Jen­nifer Lopez, Leona Lewis). Arn­thor spent two weeks in the stu­dio work­ing with some of the industry’s best top-line writ­ers and will return for another two weeks in February.

Jan­u­ary rolled on and we opened the stu­dio to Cana­dian rock band The Zolas who are signed to Light Organ Records. The guys came down to New York to mix their new album with pro­ducer Chuck Brody. The forth­com­ing yet-to-be-named album is set to be released late this year …be sure to keep an eye out for it.

This past month the stu­dio also became home to our friend Sara Quin from the renowned duo Tegan & Sara. Sara was in the stu­dio for extended ses­sions dur­ing Jan­u­ary and Feb­ru­ary to work on a host of songs for the bands new album. The group is set to start record­ing later this month and we eagerly await their next release.

Some other notable men­tions from early 2012 include ses­sions with New York actor and musi­cian Michael Grubbs who is the lead singer of the pop/rock band Wakey!Wakey! We also con­tin­ued our work with Pixar Ani­ma­tion Stu­dios and the cast­ing for their new fea­ture film due out in 2013. Last but not least we were treated to an unex­pected sur­prise when DMC (Run DMC) dropped by the stu­dio to shoot sev­eral videos and col­lab­o­rate on a new mix tape.

We at the stu­dio would like to thank every­one who has been a part of this fan­tas­tic start to 2012. Stay tuned to see what we have in store for the rest of the year.

It is the time of year to give thanks and we at the stu­dio would like to take a minute and thank some of the clients that made this past month one of the busiest in our 6 year history.

Novem­ber kicked off with our good friend Moxie Block return­ing to the stu­dio to work on her upcom­ing full-length album.  It was a busy week of record­ing, full of vocals, gui­tars and an awe­some horn section.

The next week brought us Brooklyn’s own Motive who came into the stu­dio to work with pro­ducer Chuck Brody.  The band spent a solid week record­ing and came out with two amaz­ing new songs; look out for their upcom­ing release.

We then switched gears and made room for Pixar Ani­ma­tion to use the stu­dio for cast­ing their next fea­ture film.  It was an excit­ing and event­ful three days with the Pixar bunch and we hope to see them again very soon.

We rounded out the month with sev­eral writ­ing, record­ing, and mix­ing ses­sions includ­ing work by the new pro­duc­tion team Ten­der­flex, made up of our long-time friend and pro­ducer David Mau­rice and the extra­or­di­nary DJ Logic.  The guys came in to work on sev­eral new remixes that will be hit­ting the air­waves shortly.

So a big thank you to all of our clients for help­ing us break in the new stu­dio and mak­ing this a great month full of fan­tas­tic music and people!

Wel­come to the new Fire­place Stu­dios!  Since relo­cat­ing from our 25^th Street stu­dio, which we called home for over 5 years, there have been some excit­ing devel­op­ments.  After an exhaus­tive search of the city, we found the per­fect new place to set up shop.  Perched atop Madi­son Avenue in a 14^th floor pent­house was the raw space that would become the future site of Fire­place Studios.

We teamed up with vet­eran stu­dio builder Chris Har­maty, leg­endary tech­ni­cian and acousti­cian John Klett, and acoustic con­trac­tors Sym­me­try Sound Solu­tions to design and build our new space, which fea­tures a main record­ing stu­dio with con­trol room, live room and vocal booth, as well as three satel­lite pro­duc­tion stu­dios.  After sev­eral months of con­struc­tion and one intense week of mov­ing, we opened the doors to the new Fire­place Stu­dios in the spring of 2011.
